The Nuevitas Jibaro No. 1 is a revival of a classic brand, brought back to life by Pete Johnson in 2018 after a decade-long hiatus. One of its distinctive features is the visible binder at the foot, which adds to its unique appearance. The cigars are packaged in large, 50-count boxes that are sealed with tape at the joints, a rarity in the premium cigar market. Since its return, the Nuevitas brand has undergone some changes. The cigars are now manufactured at the Garcia family's My Father Cigars factory in Nicaragua, using tobacco grown by the Garcias in the same country. The addition of bands to the cigars is another notable change. The Jibaro No. 1 has a distinct smoking profile. The initial puffs are marked by a pungent spice flavor from the exposed binder, setting the tone for the rest of the experience. As the Nicaraguan Corojo '99 wrapper begins to burn, the flavors mature and become more complex. The intense spice mellows, giving way to a robust yet balanced blend of leather, chocolate, almonds, and wood notes, creating a rich and satisfying smoke.
